"Same old Me" & "Listen"

These two songs were collaboratively composed by University of Ghana guitar students and Colter Harper during the Fall of 2013 and Spring of 2014. The group used guitar exercises as the basis for building songs around specific themes. Our goal was to join songwriting, arranging, improvisation, and guitar technique in creating something that reflected everyone's individual perspectives. The song "Same Old Me" is built around a series of verses where everyone riffs on the theme "never go back to the same old me." "Listen" is our take on chaos of communicating, particularly in Ghana, home to dozens of languages. The chorus is made up of three overlapping phrases and after the break, we sing the first phrase in spanish and twi.
